Change in future demand for this occupational group: one upone up

Trends in demand for this occupational group:

Demand for SW developers will only slowly grow in the next few years. The Czech electrical engineering industry faces a shortage of companies dealing with development and design that would make use of these qualifications. In the long term, if the number of these enterprises increases, these occupations will be very much demanded and they will be hard to get at the labour market (both in terms of quality and quantity).

This is a key ICT job in electrical engineering. Software developers analyse processes in a customer ’s company and transform customer requirements into an IT solution. They propose the basic architecture of an application and cooperate with programmers in the actual implementation. At present the occupations of developers and programmers in the CR are based mainly on ICT knowledge and skills. However, the importance of purely technical knowledge may tend to decrease in the following years. This will be influenced by the continuous process of simplification of technologies for ICT development, implementation and administration.  On the other hand, analytical and consulting skills will account for an increasingly larger part of the required profile of developers, and the actual programming activities will be increasingly outsourced.
