NACE 2002 - 22 Publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media
In terms of both output and employment the industry is largely concentrated in Prague. It is also very dynamic a s a number of media intertwine and new ways of communication and presentation emerge. There are frequent mergers, acquisitions and new strategic partnerships being formed and the market is probably not yet stable in this respect.
The dynamic launch of new media in news reporting, music and film changes the landscape dramatically, and this speeds up product and marketing innovation. The level of technology intensity is growing and so are the related requirements for skilled labour. In general, this is the consequence of a more extensive use of modern technologies in all areas of the publishing business, media production, content generation and distribution to end users. Media production is becoming more demanding – this process is being pushed by product innovation as new products cannot be produced using old equipment. In terms of technical solutions content generation will be increasingly dependent on IT services and will require better IT competencies on the part of the people involved. The range of jobs in this area will be widening. Moreover, there is a marked increase in interest in regional affairs in news reporting. This forces market players to invest more in regional offices, to boost their independence and the capacity to create high quality and interesting content not only at national level. The strongest trends in years to come will include sales monitoring, evaluation of the quality of content in terms of comparison with competitors, marketing effectiveness and building customer relations. These trends will influence skills requirements. Responsible professions and operations will grow in importance. In addition to sales, marketing and customer care, product innovation and its links to these activities will increase in importance. This will generate specific needs as regards innovation and skills demands.
