Czech industrial output accelerates growth to 5.4 pct in November /10. 01. 2012/

Czech industrial output accelerated annual growth in November to 5.4 percent from October´s 1.7 percent, and manufacture of motor vehicles was the main contributor to the rise, the Czech Statistical Office (CSU) said today.

Seasonally adjusted industrial output rose by 2.7 percent mth/mth. The value of new orders increased by 4 percent on the year. The results were influenced by a long-term positive development in the automotive industry as well as by cumulative completion of orders with a longer production cycle in engineering industry and in production of heavy transport technology, the statisticians said.

Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers rose by 17.7 percent and manufacture of machinery and equipment was 12.9 percent higher on the year. Electricity, gas, water, heat and air conditioning supply reported a rise of 10.2 percent.

The deepest annual decline in industrial production was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, down by 21.8 percent. Manufacture of food products decreased by 6.4 percent and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products was 4.6 percent lower.

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 6.6 percent in November yr/yr. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises increased by 15.0 percent at current prices. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises, decreased by 0.7 percent at current prices.

Non-domestic new orders grew by 10.6 percent in annual terms, while domestic new orders decreased by 6.8 percent. Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, which added 9.6 percent, contributed most to the annual increase in new orders. Manufacture of electrical equipment posted a rise of 10.9 percent and manufacture of fabricated metal products increased by 6.2 percent.

The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, down by 13.9 percent. Manufacture of paper and paper products reported a drop of 7.1 percent and manufacture of machinery and equipment posted a decrease of 1.2 percent.

The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in November by 1.7 percent on an annual basis. Average monthly nominal wage grew by 2.2 percent to Kc29,501, the CSU said. According to the Eurostat news release published in October 2011, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 increased by 1.3 percent yr/yr.
