60,000 new entrepreneurs registered in Czech Republic in 2011 /11. 01. 2012/
The Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade has published figures showing that 217 out of every 1,000 Czech residents are licensed to conduct business; Industry and Trade Minister Martin Kuba (Civic Democrats, ODS) says he intends to reduce the administrative burden upon entrepreneurs.
As of the last day in 2011, a total of 2,293,241 individuals and legal entities (of which 1,950,323 were individuals and 342,918 legal entities) were entered in the Register of Entrepreneurs. Together they held a total of 3,146,013 licenses to conduct business and provide services in specific fields.
“In reality there will be fewer active entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic than shown in the Entrepreneurial Register because many people have entrepreneurial permits or entrepreneurial licenses for a secondary source of income, or no longer use them at all,” deputy minister of industry and trade for smaller businesses Bedřich Danda told the server novinky.cz.
According to the ministry’s figures calculated on the bases of social security contributions, the number of individuals who are actually active entrepreneurs stands at around 967,000.
Of the entrepreneurs registered in the Czech Republic, 93,059 are foreign nationals, the largest number of whom are Ukrainians (just under 36,000), followed by Vietnamese (a little under 35,000) and Slovaks, who hold almost 14,000 entrepreneurial licenses.
