Firms from CR, USA and China plan production of new plane in CR /15. 12. 2011/

Prague - A consortium of Czech, Chinese and US companies wants to produce a new type of plane in the Czech Republic, Miroslav Krizek, head of government agency CzechInvest, said today.

China is interested in up to 1,000 of the planes that are to be produced in the country, Krizek said at a conference on employment organised by the Economic Chamber. The deal, which is just before signing, will be one of the largest contracts in the Czech aviation industry in the past years.

"This will involve production of a completely new plane which does not fly anywhere else in the world," Krizek said. A large part of capital for the production of the new plane will be provided by the Chinese side, according to Krizek.

He did not disclose any further information about the type of the plane or details about the companies which plan to start the production. CzechInvest and the involved companies will make public further details during the signing of the contract in January, Krizek added.

"Aero Vodochody is not taking part in this project," Tereza Kryspinova of the company told CTK. Representatives of aircraft producers Aircraft Industries and Evektor also ruled out participation in the development of the new plane. Czech companies already have experience in cooperation on programmes of foreign firms. Aircraft maker Aero Vodochody, for example, cooperates with Brazilian company Embraer, the third largest aircraft producer in the world, on the development and production of a new multi-purpose military transport plane KC-390. Czech company Letov letecka vyroba produces doors and mechanisms for transport planes Airbus A320 and A380, for example.

In addition, the Russian Transport Ministry will buy three Czech L-410 planes in a luxury version from Czech company Aircraft Industries for RUB450m (Kc275m) in total. According to information made public in the official register of Russian state orders, the Czech planes should be supplied by November next year. The aircraft is to be used by the ministry's top officials.

CzechInvest has recently become an extraordinary member of the Confederation of the Czech Aviation Industry. The two organisations want to join forces in support of the Czech aviation industry's production capacity, among other things.
