Five days of paid leave most popular employee benefit in CR /19. 12. 2011/

Prague - The most popular employee benefit in the Czech Republic is an additional fifth week of paid leave, according to the annual study PayWell by PwC.

The second most popular are meal vouchers, followed by refreshments at work and contributions to private pension insurance paid by employers. A new trend is an offer of benefits that enable employees to combine work and care of children, such as contributions to kindergarten or school fees, according to the study.

A total of 82 percent of companies offer their employees five weeks of paid leave. These are mainly pharmaceutical companies, financial institutions and firms involved in the chemical industry, logistics and fast-moving consumer goods.

As many as 76 percent of companies provide their employees with meal vouches, the average value of one meal voucher per day being Kc75. Firms that have their own canteens contribute Kc46 on average to employees.

Contribution to private pension insurance ranks among most frequently provided employee benefits, being offered by 72 percent of companies. A growing number of employers, however, want their employees to participate in this kind of insurance with their own contributions.

Employers contribute an average of Kc1,730 to private pension scheme of top managers, Kc740 to lower-level managers and Kc600 to other employees. A total of 65 percent of employees use this benefit. Nearly one third of companies in the Czech Republic offer a cafeteria system, which is a system of optional employee benefits.
