Trends in demand for this occupational group:
A major increase in demand for these occupations is expected. However, demand for logistics specialists will be larger in the segment of specialised consultancy companies that often propose business logistics for manufacturing companies. There is expected to be excess of demand over supply in the period under review. The development in logistics will constitute one of the main trends virtually in all industrial sectors.
Skill needs required:
The main task of a logistics specialist in a company is to propose how manufacturing processes and logistic systems should be organized at the point of input/output. In view of the growing importance of outsourcing one of the main functions of a logistics manager is to communicate with suppliers of logistic services and logisticians on the part of customers (industry, trade).
A logistician is expected to adopt a systematic approach to the organization and planning of various activities, analyzing and solving problems and working with information. Excellent computer skills are also required. A logistician is often in contact with foreign partners and therefore language skills are a must as well as a certain degree of understanding of technical qualities of the semi-finished goods and finished products that are being handled.
